Latest Update: Website

I started my 2nd page which includes a behind the scenes video of the photoshoot with the first cover
star. I really liked how it turned out, a potential improvement would be to make it landscape but then I
couldn't include the pictures as proportions wouldn't fit. I also included a sneak peak inside the contents page to encourage viewers to subscribe to the actual magazine.

For the interview I used a very formal layout and split it into paragraphs, after some research with
different current affairs website interviews, this seemed the most appropriate layout. I also included
a picture of Alex and a helpline contact number as the article is to do with mental health and it added
authenticity.

On the main home page I decided to change the original daily briefing I had as the layout was difficult to read. This has a timer and is far more clear. Also, I included the daily briefing to correspond with Dennis Publishing's  magazine, The Week's brand identity and fulfil the brief and generic conventions of a current affairs' website homepage.

Latest Updates : Front covers and Contents pages

 Front Covers

I edited quite a lot from the first front cover. I felt it was too cluttered and didn't resemble the more simplistic and professional current affairs front covers, as seen from my initial research, so I simplified the amount of text on the front cover.

I also edited his shirt collar to be higher and his black necklace out, which altogether gives him a far cleaner and less distracting look. It also gave me more space for headings and I kept the blue puff  for intertextuality but made it slightly darker for a more sophisticated look.

I moved VOICE over his hair as behind his head was too disorganised to his hair covering too much of it.

I included the first edition underneath the barcode and altogether I really like how it turned out.

I also simplified Naomi's front cover, I edited out a black frame from the background for the headline to stand out better and also changed the headline to a more bold and eye catching title along with her name to also stand out for readers.

I also included Edition 2 underneath the barcode as part of my brief and kept the puff for intertextuality.

Contents Pages

I completely redesigned the contents pages to better suit a current affair's contents page of more writing to image ratio. I much preferred this layout as it allowed me to better categorise sections
to make it easier for the reader. In the end column I've included a call to action in both contents
pages for the reader to fulfil the brief.

I also included social media links for cross digital convergence and an editor's letter to fulfil the generic conventions of a contents page for a current affairs magazine.

Progress: Website

I've added an editors note at the beginning to introduce readers to the website so they
understand what type of magazine it is and also I've added a 'Most Popular' articles
that fits the generic conventions of a Current affairs website
Here I've added the front covers and labelled them clearly as issues

This is a response to the call to action on the contents pages where readers would have
shared images of them being empowered women
Here I included a Daily Briefing of the latest news as due to research, the
magazines that are published by Dennis, e.g. the Week, also includes this
so I'm fulfilling brand identity

Here I'm encouraging user interaction by commenting their opinions and
the slogan "where your voice will be heard" shows the magazine encourages
interaction. I've also included the Dennis publishing logo for more brand identity
and social media links for cross media convergence.
Throughout the website, the colours fit in with the brand identity of the contents pages.
